Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

The government has published additional detail on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS). This scheme is designed to help employers keep employees on the payroll if as a result of COVID-19 they are unable to operate or have no work for the employee to do. The CJRS will provide financial support to employers who ‘furlough’ their employees in this way, provided that the relevant conditions are satisfied.

This briefing sets out how the CJRS will operate, based on the latest guidance, and some of the issues employers will need to consider when deciding whether to take advantage of the CJRS.
