Levelling the playing field in UK banking

This piece considers the application of the concept of a “level playing field” to the regulatory landscape for banks and bank-like firms operating in the UK. In particular, it explores the challenges of striking a balance between fostering competition and supporting new entrants to the UK banking sector, on the one hand, while minimising potential risks to the financial system and consumer detriment, on the other.
