Reinventing the 9-5 series - Working from... where? And when?

As we emerge from the latest COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, employers are taking many different approaches to their working patterns. In order to help businesses inform that choice, we have set out an overview of some of the legal issues employers need to bear in mind when deciding when and where their employees work.

We consider the legal issues related to location in planning new working patterns, such as:

  • Health & safety
  • Rights and protections
  • Status
  • Tax and social security
  • Immigration and regulatory clearances

We also consider those issues relating to timing, such as:

  • Working time
  • Mental health
  • Flexibility v stability
  • Furlough
  • Right to disconnect
